Admission process

Your application is in front of the community now. Here’s exactly what happens between now and your first post going live.

1. Existing artists vouch for you

Agnosis has no gatekeepers and no admissions committee. Instead, every artist already on the site gets a quiet email with your application and a simple yes/no vote — no login required, one click either way.

Admission needs a minimum number of “yes” votes, plus a percentage of the active community, before it goes through. This keeps the process fair without needing anyone’s permission but the people already here.

2. The voting window

Voting stays open for about a week. You don’t need to do anything during this time — we’ll email you the moment a decision is made, whichever way it goes.

If the vote doesn’t clear the threshold in time, the application is closed and you’re welcome to apply again later. It’s not a permanent no.

3. If you’re admitted

You’ll get a welcome email . From that point on:

  • You send us email, we do the rest. Attach artwork with a short note and we handle the write-up, image polish, and publishing.
  • A first biography draft is waiting for you. We’ve already put one together from what you told us in this application (your bio, your statement, your portfolio link) — review it, edit it, or discard it. Nothing goes public without your approval.
  • Every submission comes back to you before it’s public. Whatever you send in — new artwork, a biography update, an event — you’ll get an email to approve, edit, or discard it. You’re always the last word.
  • Your work reaches beyond this site. Once published, your art federates out to the wider Fediverse (Mastodon, Pixelfed, and more) automatically and gets translated to the languages we support on agnosis.art.

4. Zero cost, always

Agnosis is free for artists — no fees to join, no fees to publish. The only money that ever changes hands is optional visitor donations needed to finance the running costs of the service.
